Sawyer Camp Trail Now Open
Sawyer Camp Trail is now open following San Mateo County Parks’ seasonal maintenance work (mowing, as well as removal of diseased trees and hazardous branches).
Construction work continues at San Andreas Dam, one mile south of the Hillcrest Gate. Please use caution near the construction zone.
Near San Andreas Dam, you may see the recent burn performed this week by CalFire. Don’t worry – this seasonal fire prevention is perfectly routine!
Tree-cutting continues near the trail as part of work to seismically upgrade the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System. Crews are clearing trees and brush in order to access our existing water pipelines that move water between the reservoirs. You may notice a clearing at the 1.5 mile marker -- the location of a new access road. Biologists are carefully monitoring all activity. Tree restoration plans require replacement trees to be planted -- in some cases three new trees will be planted for every one tree cut!
Please subscribe (see right) for email alerts with future trail updates.
