Sawyer Camp Trail 2-Day Closure

Sawyer Camp Trail will close for two days on April 24^th and 25^th for seasonal maintenance and other repairs. The trail will close at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 23^rd and is expected to reopen by Thursday, April 26^th at 6 a.m.

San Andreas Trail will remain open, as will the Crystal Springs Trail south of Highway 92 to the Town of Woodside.

Upcoming Construction Work on Crystal Springs Road

Beginning late May 2012, our contractor Ranger Pipelines will replace a stretch of aging water pipeline along Crystal Springs Road between Polhemus Road and Skyline Blvd. Much of this work requires an open trench installation process. Construction work will take place Monday to Friday only, and steel plates will cover the trenches or pits each weekend. During work hours, Crystal Springs Road will periodically be reduced down to one lane. Flaggers will be present to safely direct traffic through the one open lane.

The project will continue north along Crystal Springs Road, with several locations on Crystal Springs between Skyline Blvd. and El Cerrito Road. Work will also take place on the Tartan Trail Road, just north of the intersection of Polhemus and Crystal Springs.

The construction is scheduled to take place between May and October 2012. Restoration of the roads is anticipated in late 2012 after the water pipeline project is completed.

This work is part of our Crystal Springs Pipeline No. 2 Replacement Project.  This regional water delivery pipeline serves unincorporated San Mateo County, Hillsborough, Burlingame, Millbrae, San Bruno, South San Francisco, Brisbane and Daly City.

In the event of an earthquake, will you have enough drinking water?
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) operates the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System, which provides high-quality drinking water to 2.6 million residents and businesses across four Bay Area counties. The SFPUC is making the investment to seismically upgrade regional water facilities, tunnels, and pipelines. However, it is important for you to know that smaller pipelines leading to your home might be damaged in an earthquake. As a result, water from your tap may be unavailable for up to 72 hours or longer.

To prepare for an emergency:

Keep a 3-day water supply just in case!
• Each family member needs 1 gallon per day
• Store tap water in food-grade plastic containers; replace every 6 months
• Store bottled water in the original sealed containers; replace according to expiration date.

If your supply runs out, you can treat your water!
• Boil it for 3 minutes, or disinfect it by adding regular household bleach
• Add 8 drops of bleach per gallon of water
• Shake or stir then let it stand for 30 minutes
