Water Pipeline Work Resumes at Sawyer Camp Trail

Beginning this week, culverts and streams near Sawyer Camp Trail will fill with water running into the reservoirs…but much of the water is not from the recent heavy rain. Our water department staff will be emptying the pipeline that runs adjacent to Sawyer Camp Trail from January 24 through January 30 to allow for seismic upgrade work. Increased truck traffic will be present on the trail.

Once empty, crews will use a cement mortar lining to strengthen the existing pipeline. Construction activity will be visible along Sawyer Camp Trail at numerous spots from the .5 to 3 mile markers.

Near the San Andreas Dam on the 5 mile marker of Sawyer Camp Trail (the southern end of San Andreas Lake) water trucks will draw water from the reservoir to service the nearby golf course.  The trucks will need to cross the trail in that location a few times each day, during periods of dry weather only. Cyclists heading down the hill from the northern trailhead should use caution!

The trail remains open during construction from sunrise to sunset. Please subscribe (see right) to receive automatic email updates about closures.
